This live course is approved by NCBTMB, FL, GA, SC, NH, MI & TN boards of massage and all states that accept NCBTMB hours. Florida Board of Massage will accept this course as a live "relevant to massage techniques" hands-on training for the 2024/2025 relicensing period due Aug 31, 2025.

We recommend students bring their own massage chairs to class only on August 6th (if they have one).  We do have several chairs at the school; however, it is best to practice in your OWN chair if you have one.  There may be maneuvers and techniques that can (or cannot) be performed in your chair; therefore, it is best to train in and on your own.  For those who do not massage chairs, CE Institute LLC will provide you a massage chair to share for the hands-on practice, and we also provides all of the massage tables, lotions and oils necessary for class.  Students must bring 2 sheets and 2 hand towels to participate in the hands-on sports event work. Hands-on practice is encouraged, but not required to receive CE credit.

All training will be provided with 10-minute breaks each hour of class plus a 30-minute meal break.

This 12 CE Hour Class combines both chair massage work plus hand and ear reflexology which can be executed at corporations, businesses, events, as house-calls, at parties or in-office.  The clients will remain clothed during all of the demonstrated services - there is no undressing required for chair massage or hand and ear reflexology. 

Half of the class time, students will learn how to work on clients who are clothed to apply this massage and bodywork at events, corporations and more.  We will review some business basics about how to execute a chair massage on-site event on your own plus the common supplies required for a proper, proficient and business-building chair massage operation.   Class includes:

• introduction to chair massage application: how, where, when and why
• brief chair massage contraindications
• scientific research that shows the benefits of a quick chair massage routine
• how to market and setup a chair massage event
• what to review and consider for corporate event chair massage execution
• a list of supplies required to execute chair massage events
• setup and sanitation practices for chair events
• we will practice in 2 different portable chairs:
• primary practice and the most amount of time will be spent on back, neck, shoulder, arm, hand and hip massage in a regular seated massage chair
• less time will be spent showing and practicing massage in a portable relaxing chair for onsite or corporate use
• very short hands-on practical chair massage routines will be demonstrated for:
• Vigorous Routine
• Hand & Arm Routine
• Lower Extremity & Foot Routine (in relaxing chair)
• Low Back Work
• Passive Head & Neck Routine
  
• Seated Chair Use with Triangular Wedge Cushion

This reflexology class was written and is taught by CE Institute LLC Founder, Selena Belisle.  Selena has been practicing multiple bodywork modalities for 30 years, and originally learned Reflexology in 1995 at the Massage Institute of New England in Cambridge, Massachusetts – the same city where other schools such as MIT and Harvard University are located.  In fact, one of the Massage Institute’s required textbooks in 1995 was a Eunice Ingham publication, well before Reflexology became the popular modality that it has become today.

Selena started her bodywork career as a sports massage therapist in 1989 – she was part of Team USA and has won 3 WAF World Championships amongst other various minor athletic titles.  She also founded and managed an alternative health care practice of over 40 massage therapists, 4 acupuncturists and 4 chiropractors in Braintree & Quincy, Massachusetts from 1996 to 2005 (which she successfully sold).  She then spent another 5-years training and managing a 2^nd staff as a Newbury Street Spa Owner in Boston, MA from 2005-2010.

Selena’s continued reflexology practice, studies and teachings over the past 25 years included learning methods such as Simplified-Modern Reflexology from Body Reflexology in 2000.  Selena completed multiple Traditional Chinese Medicine Certifications (in 1995 & 2000) to learn more about utilizing different points and applications of the body to create holistic healing and wellness from places like the Beijing Hospital in Beijing China and the NE School of Acupuncture. She has studied with many different reflexology instructors who have presented many different reflexology philosophies and approaches in both live and online theoretical classes.
