This 12 CE Aromatherapy & Hot Stone Massage Basics home study class provides a solid foundation of how to effectively use essential oils for aromatherapy bodywork and massage. It also shows the basics of hot stone massage, including the names of the different types of stones, how they should be safely applied to the body, as well as a general overview of how hot stone massage should be executed in a therapeutic or spa setting. The instructor will demonstrate hot stone lava lomi massage strokes during the 6 hour portion of hot stone studies in this 12 hour training. You do not need to purchase stones or a hot stone massage kit to take this training. Students seeking to learn a traditional full body hot stone massage routine should sign-up for our 12 CE Hour Hot Stone Workshop.
You are not required to have your own essential oils to participate in this class. For students who will be smelling their own essential oils during this training, we recommend keeping a bag, canister or keurig of coffee nearby. We will use coffee to cleanse your nasal palate, if you are smelling multiple essential oils in one day.
The essential oils that we will review during the Aromatherapy portion of class will be economical/lesser-expensive essential oils including: Anise, Basil, Bergamot, Birch, Eucalyptus, Fennel, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lemongrass, Lime, Orange, Peppermint, Rosemary, Spearmint, Cajeput, Camphor, Cedarwood, Cinnamon Bark, Cinnamon Leaf, Clary Sage, Clove Bud, Clove Leaf, Fir, Geranium, Juniper Berry, Lavender, Palmarosa, Tea Tree, Frankincense, Myrrh, Patchouli and Ylang Ylang. This list could be updated or slightly changed without notice.

She completed a 1-year Holistic Aromatherapy Certification from The New England Center for Aromatherapy in 1995. She also took elective aromatherapy courses at the Massage Institute of New England in the 1990s. Selena creates hand-made aromatic soaps and candles which she has sold in the past, and also gives to friends, family and clients. She almost opened an aromatherapy business to exclusively sell retail aromatherapy products during the “boom” of aromatherapy in the 1990s, but chose to implement aromatherapy into her holistic healing and bodywork practices instead.
Selena created, managed and owned an alternative health care practice in the 1990s that employed over 40 massage therapists, 4 chiropractors and 4 acupuncturists in Quincy & Braintree, Massachusetts, until she sold in 2005. It was here where she became a master “blender”, concocting different aromatherapy massage mediums for various emotional physical and medical conditions that served thousands. She also spent 5-years training and managing a 2nd staff as a Newbury Street Spa Owner in Boston, MA from 2005 to 2010, where she used extensive essential oils to enhance spa treatments and became a master therapist in spa service using botanical spa skin care lines such as Pevonia and Aveda.
