  1. Please do not register for this training unless you mean to legitimately complete it. Training must be 100% completed to earn CE credit and reporting. Partial credit and CE reporting are NOT available to students who have incomplete training and/or attempt to fast forward or skip through our training videos.

  2. Students must purchase training with their own payment method in their licensed name which MATCHES their license # for CE reporting. Please do not purchase with someone else's payment method. Please do not allow anyone other than the student/licensee to purchase, contribute, take or complete any element of this training. Self-reporting your own CE hours is required when your licensed name does not match your registered student name.

  3. This course is approved by NCBTMB, FL, SC, GA & TN boards of massage and all states that accept NCBTMB hours. FL Board accepts this home study course for "hands-on"/relevant to massage CE credit that used to be required for live, in-person training for the Aug 31, 2025, 2023 & 2021 renewal periods. It will count as general CE credit ONLY for Florida's Aug 31, 2027 renewal.  If you are taking this for CE credit and unsure if this course meets your CE requirements, please check with your own board to ensure you will receive the credit you need PRIOR TO registering or paying.

  4. A laptop or desktop computer with stable internet connection is required to complete this computer based training. Please do not attempt to use lesser devices such as a cell phone or tablet with this online training.

  5. This 12 CE hour course must be completed within 14-days from the minute of purchase before it automatically expires and is deactivated. Please immediately start training  after purchase, because training extensions are not available for any reason, including tech issues.

  6. Training is 100% prerecorded videos, quizzes and a survey which you can watch/take 24/7, until your course access expires. Students can take their quizzes as many times as needed until passing, or until their course access expires. The boards require a passing grade of 70%.

  7. All 12 CE hours of training must be completed online, in our home study system for CE credit. The videos we use to teach this training are not distributed offline and cannot be downloaded. Students can download a large amount of companion training pdf files to keep forever during their course access time.

  8. Our automated system emails a training course access link immediately after purchase. You can also login to your paid training at lms.CeInstitute.com with your registered email address, and then use the "Forgot Password" link if you did not set up a password, or cannot remember it.

  9. Please email us at info@CeInstitute.com if you require assistance. We do not provide phone support. Please keep your communications to one email thread which will help us respond faster than reviewing/responding to multiple emails under different threads. We always answer emails within 24-48 hours and most are answered much quicker.  Please watch and follow ALL training instructions, which usually eliminates any need for additional support.

This combo class combines 6 CEs of Trigger Point Therapy education and 6 CEs of Neuromuscular Therapy education.

In our 6 CEs of Trigger Point Therapy education, we will review:

  • What is a trigger point
  • How to find trigger points
  • Common places where trigger points are found
  • How to apply pressure to relieve trigger points (and pain)
  • Instructor demonstrations of individual trigger point application, entry point, amount of pressure to be used and length of time to hold trigger points
  • Hands-on follow along practice with the instructor with trigger point application which you can practice on yourself or a model
  • Stories and reviews of trigger point theory
  • Communication skills and practices with clients when applying trigger point therapy
  • Includes a history review of the 1st female physician to a U.S. President and a "founder" of Trigger Point Therapy: Dr. Janet Travell

Our 6 CEs of Neuromuscular Therapy education includes:

  • NMT Benefits,
  • Postural & Functional Evaluations,
  • Nerve Entrapment & Ischemia,
  • Assessing & Addressing Pain,
  • Pain Relief Agencies & Organizations,
  • Treatment Suggestions,
  • Instructor Demonstrations,
  • NMT Evaluations
  • Hands-on NMT Practice while following the instructor demonstrations

At the end of this class, you will have the foundation basics of how Neuromuscular Therapy is practiced with an extended knowledge of trigger point therapy.  This class is designed to help therapists provide more exact pain relief in targeted treatments instead of a regular full body massage service.

_____________

Most of the trigger points that we will work on will be within reach of the student’s own hands on their own body; however, for an **enhanced training experience**, students may want to purchase a therapy cane if they do not already have one. Therapy canes cost on average between $20 to $35, and they are a valuable lifelong tool a therapist can use to care for themselves.  You do not need a therapy cane to take this class; however, there are some trigger points you might not be able to reach on yourself during hands-on practice time without the cane.  The boards also do not require that you practice hands-on skills during the training to receive CE credit or a certificate - your only requirement is to watch, listen and attend the entire home study course.

Your trigger point training will also include intra-oral work (briefly inside your own mouth). Students should have a way to sanitize their hands pre and post intra-oral work during the training.

We feel it is BEST to use your HANDS to practice trigger point therapy especially when working with clients.  However, we also feel that using a therapy cane will be a valuable tool to find, feel and learn more about trigger point therapy application.

This Neuromuscular Therapy & Trigger Point Therapy class was written and is taught by CE Institute LLC Founder, Selena Belisle.  Selena teaches the majority of our NMT and Trigger Point Classes at CE Institute LLC.  Wendy Langen also teaches several of our medical classes like this one as well.

Selena has been practicing Neuromuscular Therapy for 25 years and Massage Therapy for 30 years.  She started with sports massage when she was competing on Team USA in the Athens Greece Olympic Stadium for her 1st World Championship title in 1989.  She went on to win 3 WAF World Titles in Arm Wrestling and other various minor sport titles.  After the height of her professional athletic career, Selena sought formal “full body” massage therapy training at the Massage Institute of New England in Cambridge, Massachusetts – which touched upon Neuromuscular Therapy in their 1000+ hour program in 1995.

In 1995, Selena also took her first class with Paul St. John at the American Massage Therapy Association National Convention in Boston, MA.  She went on to complete numerous Neuromuscular Therapy Certifications in Paul St. John NMT from 1997 to 1999.  She has also trained in the 1990s in Neuromuscular Therapy with David Kent.  Selena has additionally taken multiple online theoretical studies in structural integration and NMT with Theresa A. Schmidt, Judy Delany, Lu Mueller-Kaul, and Doug Nelson of Precision Neuromuscular Therapy.   A larger portion of executing NMT is by working on and relieving active trigger points.

Selena has spent decades training, practicing and teaching NMT, trigger point therapy, deep tissue techniques, myofascial release, postural integration and other integrative bodyworks.  With this experience, Selena created a style of postural evaluation and easy/quasi “fix-it” routines for a quick, simplified practice of NMT.  Selena’s NMT classes are for beginner to intermediate skill level practitioners.  Selena recommends intermediate to advanced NMT training classes from Theresa Schmidt, Judy Delany, David Kent or Lu Mueller-Kaul.
