Instructor Michelle Stoppi Discusses CranioSacral Therapy

By Michelle Stoppi, MA, LMT, CranioSacral Therapy Program Director at CE Institute LLC, Miami FL

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle manual therapy which works with the CranioSacral Rhythm to release and re-balance the Central Nervous System. It offers techniques to treat the whole body in order to break the cycle of stress between the CNS and restricted or traumatized tissue. CST helps unravel pain and dysfunction at it’s source.  The result is a central nervous system free of restrictions – a calm and centered mind, and a body that’s able to return to its greatest levels of performance. Because of this, it can often be an effective treatment in cases where other therapies have not provided relief from pain and other issues.

The connective tissue within the human body provides the structural “scaffolding” of the body and of every cell.  It is meant to be expansive. Any injury, or resistance to life (ie: resistance to what IS, in the form of one’s expectations of one’s life compared to reality) is paired with some level of cellular contraction and/or discomfort in the tissue within the mind and body. This state of contraction anywhere in the connective tissue matrix can be released and rebalanced through CranioSacral Therapy.

As a mother of three including twins, working on children came natural for me. Craniosacral Therapy helps infants and toddlers with issues such as flat or bulging head syndrome, Torticollis, Tongue-Tie, and colic. The therapy can provide relief for children and teens with autism spectrum disorders, ADD & ADHD,  stress, anxiety, scoliosis, headaches, orthodontic related issues, depression and insomnia.
